VAZHAKKAI MEZHUKKUPURATTI - Kerala Style Raw Banana Stir Fry
Mezhukkupuratti is a traditional Kerala Stir Fry cooked and tossed in onion,garlic&red chili paste along with coconut oil. This is very tasty and easy dish goes very well with rice. It can be made with vegetables like Raw Banana,Elephant Yam,Carrot,Beans etc. Today lets learn how to make this Kerala style raw banana stir fry.

Ingredients :
Raw banana - 2 medium sized
Coconut oil - 2 tspn
Mustard seeds - 1 tspn
Curry leaves - few
Shallots - 10 peeled
Garlic - 3 cloves peeled Red Chili - 2
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tspn Salt as needed
Method :
1. In a mixer jar, add garlic,onion and red chili and grind them to a paste with required water(usually it will be grinded coarsely). Peel and chop the raw banana into cubes. Heat the pan and add the cubed raw banana. Add required salt and turmeric powder along with water.
2. Cook the bananas till they are soft and also little firm. The raw banana should not be mushy. Once the raw banana is cooked, strain excess water and set it aside. Heat coconut oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add curry leaves.
3. Then add the grinded paste,required salt and saute them nicely in oil till the raw smell goes off.
4. Once the raw smell goes off, add the cooked raw banana and toss it gently to get the spice mixture coated evenly. Cook on medium heat for 3 minutes.
Vazhakkai Mezhukkupuratti is now ready to serve!
