VENDAKKAI PORIYAL
Vendakkai / Okra Poriyal is a stir fry vegetable variety that goes well with lunch menus such as sambar , rasam , curd rice or even with variety rice. Okra is known as Vendakkai in Tamil and Bhindi in Hindi. Okra is very good for health and can make this poriyal very quickly and easily.

Ingredients :
Lady's finger - 250 grams
Oil - 3 tbspn
Cumin seeds - 1 tspn
Onion - 1/4 cup finely chopped Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbspn Chili Powder - 1 tbspn Coriander powder - 1/2 tbspn
Garam masala - 1/4 tbsp
Salt as needed
Hing - 1 tsp
Method :
1. Wash and clean the okra well in running water. Then dry them well. Discard the top and bottom portion of okra.Cut into medium sized pieces as shown.
2. In a non stick pan heat the oil. Once oil is hot add the cumin seeds & allow it to pop . Then add the chopped onion and cook till transparent. Add the okra give a gentle mix. cook for few mints. Keep stirring. Then add the red chili powder,garam masala and coriander powder.
3. Mix well and cook until raw smell goes. Then add the salt and hing. Cook until the okras are cooked.
Now its ready to serve.
Notes :
1.If you feel its sticky you can a tbspn of curd and avoid the stickiness.
2. You can also add grounded peanut masala at end if you like the flavors.
