MUSHROOM THOKKU
Mushroom thokku is a South Indian side dish which is in the form of thick thokku consistency made with mushrooms. It goes well with Roti,Naan and even with plain Basmati rice or pulao . This is a semi dry subji which is very easy to make. We can make this same thokku with mixed vegetables or vegetables of our choice.
Preparation Time:10 mints | Cooking Time:20 mints | Serves - 3-4
Ingredients:
Oil - 3tbspn
Onion - 1/2 cup finely chopped
Tomato - 2 roughly chopped
Cumin Seeds - 1tspn
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1tbspn
Turmeric Powder - 1tspn
Red Chili powder - 1tbspn
Coriander powder - 1/2tbspn
Garam masala - 1/4tbspn
Salt - 1tbspn
Sugar - a pinch
Mushroom - 200gm
Curry leaves - chopped
coriander leaves - 1 fistful of chopped
Water - As required
Directions:
1.Clean Mushrooms well and cut into bite size pieces. Chop tomatoes and grind it to a puree. Chop onion,curry leaves and coriander leaves finely. Make ginger garlic paste ready.
2. In a pan heat oil and add cumin seeds,onion,ginger garlic paste , curry leaves and mix well. Cook till the onion turns transparent.
3.Then add the grinded tomato puree and add turmeric,red chili powder,coriander powder,garam masala,salt and sugar. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
4. Then add mushrooms to it. Mushroom leaves water while cooking. So don't add extra water as we need as thokku consistency.Allow to cook for 7 to 10 mints. Then add chopped coriander leaves and serve.
Notes :
1. You can adjust the consistency accordingly and you can make it as a gravy.
2. Also you can add vegetables of your choice instead of mushrooms. And you can also try it as mixed vegetable thokku.
